Meet Your 2023–2024 SGA President and Vice President
Students Brianna Jackson and Oluwatunmise (Tunmise) Eboda are the current president and vice president of the Student Government Association. Learn more about who they are and why they care so much about supporting HCC students.
What are you studying at Howard Community College?
Brianna, SGA President (she/her): I'm a social science and business studies major. I'm also currently looking at schools in Maryland, New Jersey, and New York to transfer to.
Tunmise, SGA Vice President (he/him): I am currently a computer science major, I plan to transfer to College Park after I get my associate degree. At UMD, I plan to still pursue my computer science degree but with a math minor.
What do you like most about Howard Community College?
Brianna: I love the diversity of the school. You meet so many different people from different cultures, and I love to learn about new cultures from the students here.
Tunmise: I like the inclusivity at HCC, how the courses are taught, and the resources that we have available use.
What inspired you to run for SGA?
Brianna: For a point in time, I found that there was a lack of awareness of the resources that the college provides. And some resources are lacking. Because of this, I wanted to take an active role and help change that for the students who attend HCC.
Tunmise: I was close friends with the previous SGA members and how they ran the SGA inspired me to run. Their way of working and dedication to their work played a major role as well.
What are some of your goals in your SGA leadership position?
Brianna: A huge goal I have is to promote the rights of students, and to make sure that the problems we are all facing on campus are heard.
Tunmise: A goal I have as vice president is to host a seminar where guests can talk about their passion, in which will hopefully inspire those who haven't found their passion yet.
What are you most looking forward to this semester/year?
Brianna: Honestly, I'm most looking forward to Homecoming. I'm very excited to see all our plans for the football game and dance unfold.
Tunmise: The thing I am most looking forward to is the homecoming dance as we will be able to see our work put into action.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell the student body?
Brianna: I am so honored to be your SGA president this year and can't way to serve you all in the best way possible!
Tunmise: One thing I would like to tell the student body is to vote for the homecoming theme!!!
HCC students: Meet Brianna and Tunmise at the next SGA Town Hall on October 11, 3:30–4:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Burrill Galleria. The final plans for Homecoming will be discussed!
