Relive the Excitement of the Presidential Inauguration Week

Howard Community College came alive with sounds of celebration October 9-15, 2022, for the inauguration of Dr. Daria J. Willis, the fifth president of the college. While in office since January, the board of trustees recognized Dr. Willis in a week-long series of events for faculty, staff, students, elected officials, and community members.
"I have felt at home at Howard Community College since I set foot on campus on October 7, 2021, for my in-person interview. Since that time, I consider myself fortunate and blessed to be part of the Dragon Family," said Dr. Willis, reflecting on her presidency. "From the HCC 5K Challenge Race to the College-wide Cookout to the President’s Gala, the week was both a celebration and a reminder of why I chose to become a part of this special place and why I am so grateful to come to work every day."
The week began with the HCC 5K Challenge Race to raise funds for student scholarships, continued with an alumni and retiree reception, an employee and student cookout, and a Blossoms of Hope tree-planting ceremony to recognize the college's five presidents. On Friday, October 14, Dr. Willis was officially installed and delivered her inauguration address. The week closed with the President's Gala, an event featuring dinner and dancing to support scholarships.
