Attendance Reports Procedure - 63.04.01
College Policy Number/Title:
In order to maintain a process for accurately recording Howard Community College employee attendance and leave usage, attendance must be submitted to supervisors for review and approval according to an established schedule.
Altering, falsifying, or tampering with attendance or timekeeping records, recording hours not worked, working hours not recorded on your timesheet (i.e., working “off the clock”), or having someone else record your time or recording another employee’s time are all serious violations of college policy which may result in corrective action, up to and including termination.
Faculty, Administrator, and Professional/Technical Staff (Exempt)
All exempt staff will report leave using the online leave system. Leave use is a two-step process. The employee must request the leave through the online system and the supervisor is required to approve or deny the leave request. In the event of unexpected leave, the leave must be submitted by the employee and approved by the supervisor by the end of the month in which the leave was taken. It is the responsibility of the employee and supervisor to ensure all leave is recorded appropriately.
Professional/Technical and Support Staff (Non-exempt)
To comply with state and federal laws and to keep accurate records of time worked, non-exempt professional/technical staff and support staff maintain semi-monthly time sheets documenting leave taken and additional time worked. Time sheets are approved by immediate supervisors and submitted to the payroll office.
Hourly/Temporary Staff
To comply with state and federal laws and to keep accurate records of time worked, hourly/temporary staff complete semi-monthly online time sheets documenting hours worked or leave used. The time sheets are approved online by the supervisor prior to processing by the payroll office.
