Kyle

A STEM Scholar and a Schoenbrodt Honors student, Kyle is fast pursuing his passion for computer science at HCC and beyond.
Kyle is always discovering new things. After finding his passion for computer science at HCC, Kyle worked with a faculty member and a fellow honors student on innovative mathematical research which has been submitted to an academic journal. He has now graduated with honors and awards and is transferring to UMBC.
After graduating from high school, Kyle wasn’t sure what he wanted to study. Inspired by a programming course in his first semester at HCC, he decided to study computer science in the college’s STEM Scholars, an honors program for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Kyle and fellow STEM Scholar, Alexander Bisant, participated in an honors seminar with Dr. Mike Long, associate professor and co-chair of the mathematics division, and their original research resulted in development of a new method for generating primitive Pythagorean triples.
Additionally, Kyle was a Schoenbrodt Honors student, member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and received the HCC Educational Foundation GEICO scholarship. He graduated in spring 2016 with straight A’s, an award from the mathematics division, as well as HCC’s Award of Academic Excellence. After a summer undergraduate research fellowship with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, he will start working toward his bachelor’s degree in computer science at UMBC - and working hard to keep discovering.
