Silas Craft Collegians Program
Crafting Pathways to Success
The Silas Craft Collegians Program is an academic “linked-course learning community.” A “linked-course learning community” refers to a group of students (a cohort) who are enrolled in two or more courses led by different instructors who identify common student learning outcomes and integrate course curriculum. The courses in this case refer to the sequence of up to six (6) semester-long, 1-credit college success seminars that you will take throughout your time as a student in our program.
In addition to the college success seminars, you will also enroll in Silas Craft sections of other required courses to aid your development and to build community within your cohort. As a cohort, you and your peers will take classes together and navigate your HCC experience as a group. Silas Craft courses are taught by faculty who are committed to student success and meeting students where they are.
Program participants receive the benefit of:
- Participation in a unique college readiness retreat for incoming first year Collegians (see below for details).
- Personalized academic and transfer advising to prepare and stay on track for success
- Tutoring and study groups
- Personal mentoring, career exploration, and skills development
- Leadership development and networking opportunities
- Scholarship opportunities
- Service learning and study abroad opportunities
- And more
