Academic Standing Self-Assessment
Academic standing is the usual term we use to refer to the academic status assigned to students at the end of each term they are enrolled at Howard Community College.
At the end of each fall and spring semester, each student’s academic progress is reviewed to optimize that student’s chances for success. The college identifies students to be either in good standing or at academic risk depending upon each individual student’s grade point average (GPA) and satisfactory academic progress rate.
Students must complete a self-assessment before meeting with an academic success coordinator in the appropriate office based on your standing. FOCUS-2 is a self-guided online career assessment tool that helps you acknowledge your academic strengths & weaknesses, discover your interests, personality, leisure activities, values, and skills, and match them with occupations and academic majors. We want to ensure that your academic interests align with potential career pathways.
