Nursing Assistant & Geriatric Assistant Training at HCC
In as little as 5 weeks, you can be ready for a new career as a Certified Nursing Assistant/Geriatric Nursing Assistant. You will learn from experienced and professionally trained nursing educators. HCC has partnered with area hospitals, businesses, and organizations to provide CNA/GNA graduates the unique opportunity to prepare for a rewarding career.
HCC’s CNA/GNA program meets Maryland Board of Nursing certification requirements. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to obtain a CNA license from the Maryland Board of Nursing and be well-prepared to take the State Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) Exam.
The program at HCC is offered in a hybrid format, so you will have the opportunity to learn both online as well as in the skills lab where you will have the opportunity to practice your skills under the supervision of a trained nurse. At the conclusion of the lab and theory portions of the course, you will spend 40 hours in a clinical setting where you will have the chance to put to use the skills you have learned in a setting such as an assisted living facility, allowing you to finish with practical experience.
Theory and clinical sections are taken simultaneously, but you must register for both sections. The entire program is 145 hours (100 hours of theory training and 45 hours of clinical training). You will earn 14.5 CEUs upon completion of the course.
