Getting Registered with DSS

Accessibility Information Management (AIM) is an online system used to set up and manage accommodations for students with disabilities at HCC. Students will use AIM to manage their accommodations. AIM is separate from other college systems to protect the privacy of DSS students. AIM can only be accessed by individuals who have an educational need to know disability related data. Information shared in AIM is not included as part of your permanent college record.

To be eligible for services, students need to provide appropriate, current documentation of their disability. Documentation should be relevant to the requested accommodations, and completed by a professional qualified to make the diagnosis such as a therapist, doctor, or other health care professional.  

The documentation should identify the disability and describe its current impact. It is recommended that the documentation describe the student's past accommodations and suggestions for accommodations in the college setting. Although an IEP or Section 504 Plan may help identify services that have been effective in high school, in some cases, additional documentation for accommodations may be needed. 

Types of documentation can include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Psychological and educational evaluations 
• Medical reports, letters, and assessments from health care providers that are written on office letterhead and signed by the licensed professional   
• IEP or Section 504 Plans

DSS will evaluate disability documentation and determine eligibility and accommodations based on the appropriateness, recency and completeness of the documentation submitted.
