Admissions requirements
Do I have to complete my prerequisites before taking the TEAS?
You do not need to have completed all prerequisites before taking the TEAS. However, it may be helpful to have taken a English, Biology, and Chemistry course.
Do I need to take the TEAS if I have already passed the HESI A2?
No. You would only need to take the TEAS if your HESI A2 scores have expired.
What is the passing score?
A composite score of 66.5% and a required score of 69% in math and reading.
What if I took the ATI TEAS at a different location?
Before transferring TEAS score, please make sure the following requirements have been met:
- Received an overall composite score of 66.5% or higher
- Have a required score of 69% in both reading and math
- Within the two-years of the application term to be accepted
If you meet these requirements, please log into your ATI account. Once you have signed in, click on My Results. You will see a link to Send Transcript under your results. Select HOWARD CC MD ADN. There is a $29.99 fee to have the score transferred.
If I do not pass how long do I have to wait to retest?
Two months.
How many times can I take the TEAS?
A maximum of four times in a year.
Will my Admissions Coach have access to my score report?
Scores are entered into the system after testing. Admissions Coaches will have access to your scores within 24 hours.
Accommodations
What if I have accommodations?
Please make sure you have registered with Disability Support Services (DSS). Approved accommodations can be applied to the TEAS, such as extended time and text-to-speech.
What accommodations are available for the TEAS?
Extra time and text-to-speech. Paper and pencil exams are available upon request, but require two weeks to order.
What are the available accessibility features on the TEAS?
The TEAS allows for extended time and offers a screen reader. Paper-based versions of the TEAS are available with at least two-weeks notice.
Registration and Scheduling
How do I create an ATI student account?
Visit the ATI website to create an account. Students will need to know their username and password in order to log in to test.
How do I sign up to take the exam?
Students may register for the TEAS beginning January 2025. Registration and payment will be done directly through the ATI website.
How much does the exam cost?
$100
What if I do not want to take the TEAS on campus?
Students can take the ATI TEAS at an ATI or at a PSI Center. The cost is $120 at each site. (Prices subject to change). Students would just need to visit the registration site to choose these options. Ensure your transcripts are sent to HCC.
What are the test dates?
Test dates are available on the ATI website or on the Test Center website.
What if I need to reschedule my exam?
Students will have 48 hours before the exam in order to reschedule.
If you have a documented emergency, please contact our customer support team at (800) 667-7531 within the 48 hours before the exam time frame. ATI's support team is available Monday - Friday, 6 am - 9 pm Central Time. You can also submit your request via email to onlinestore@atitesting.com with your name, email, original test date, documentation for your emergency, and two alternate test possibilities. ATI will reply to your request within two business days.
You may reschedule your exam as many times as you wish - however, you will be charged $15 for each reschedule. You may reschedule your exam up to 30 days past your exam date. If there are no available dates or times for your reschedule, then you will have to take the exam at the originally scheduled date/time or purchase a new exam.

What study materials are available to prepare?
ATI has study materials available for purchase when scheduling. The HCC Library has several other study materials available for use on campus only.
Are there any available resources if I have already tested but did not pass?
Yes, ATI has customizable study materials based on your test score. For more information visit the Operation GPS Canvas course.

Test Specifics
What subjects are covered?
Reading, Math, Science, and English.
How long is the TEAS?
For scheduling purposes, please allow four hours for testing. The time limit is 209 minutes (about 3.5 hours).
What type of questions are on the TEAS?
There are multiple choice, multiple select, fill-in-the-blanks, and ordered response questions.
Will I get my results immediately?
Yes, score reports are generated immediately after testing is complete.

What materials are allowed during testing?
Scrap paper and pencil will be provided at each workstation. There is an on-screen calculator available.
Can I take a break while testing?
There is a ten-minute optional break after completing the math section of the TEAS.
Can I go back and change the answers?
You can go back and forth within the section to review or change answers if time allows. Once you close the section, you cannot go back.
