
Remote Placement Testing Policies and Procedures
Before testing, you will be required to complete the following:
- Show a valid, government-issued or school ID with your photo and full name. Your picture and the name on the ID must be clearly legible on the recording.
- Complete an environment scan of your workspace, including your desk or workspace.
- For GSP and ALEKS: install and use the respective Respondus Lockdown Browser.
- Your camera, microphone, and screen sharing must be active at all times.
During testing, you must abide by the following policies and procedures:
- The use of headphones/earbuds is NOT permitted.
- Complete your test in an area with minimal/no distractions. No one else should be in the room during the test session.
- Your cellphone should be powered down and away from your desk/workspace for the entirety of the test session.
- Remove everything from your desk/workspace, except for individual sheets of scratch paper and pencils/pens.
- Your camera must remain on and your entire face should be clearly visible for the entirety of the test session.
Key Notes:
- In accordance with the HCC Academic Honesty Procedure, test results will be invalidated for violations of academic honesty including, but not limited to: collaboration with others, use of unauthorized materials (web searches, cellphone, AI tools, etc.), or copying of materials.
- Your test results may also be invalidated for testing irregularities and violations including, but not limited to: disabling the camera or screen share function, moving outside of the camera frame for an extended period of time, or use of headphones/earbuds during the test session.
- Test results will be held if an ID was not presented at the start of the session, or if the name and photo on the ID are not clearly visible until verification is completed in the test center or via Zoom. You will receive an email with instructions on how to validate your ID, if needed, from testcenter@howardcc.edu.
- There will be a delay of score entry until your exam session is reviewed and validated. This process may take up to 72 business hours. If you need to register for classes immediately, you are encouraged to test in-person (visit registerblast.com/howardcc to schedule an appointment or walk-in during business hours).
